Questions people ask before connecting an app.
No. Three lines change: the address your app sends AI requests to, the key and the model name. The model name starts with its AI provider, like openai/gpt-4o-mini. The rest of your code stays the same.
Yes, if your app calls its AI provider from a server or a backend function, like a Supabase edge function. Ask your AI tool to make the three changes on the Setup page. Tell it to read your knectar key from your .env.
You paste them into the knectar dashboard when you create a knectar key for an app. Each one is stored encrypted, tied to that knectar key, and never shown again. You only ever see its last four characters. If two apps use OpenAI, paste your OpenAI key into both of their knectar keys.
No. Keep it on your server or in a backend function, like a Supabase edge function. Never put it in code that runs in the browser. The difference is what a leak costs you. Set a spending cap on the key, and knectar blocks it once its spending reaches the cap. Switch the key off and your other apps keep working. Your AI keys never left knectar.
OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq and OpenRouter, each with your own key. One OpenRouter key reaches hundreds of models.
Yes. You connect your own OpenAI key, so OpenAI bills you as it does now. The same goes for every AI provider. knectar does not sell AI credit. The price of knectar itself is not set yet, and the waitlist hears it first.
Yes, for 24 months, so you can read them in your logs next to the model, time taken, tokens and cost. An admin can delete a single request. A setting to stop storing prompts is not built yet, and nothing scans them for personal data.
Your app gets an error back, the same as when OpenAI is down. If you ever need to leave in a hurry, change the three lines back and put an OpenAI key back in the app.
Yes. Change the three lines back and your app calls OpenAI directly again, with a key from your OpenAI dashboard. Nothing about knectar is built into your code. Remove your AI key from knectar and it is deleted from our servers.
